Butterflies

Butterflies, they flutter and fly all around
in my stomach and nowhere near the ground.
Making me dizzy, making me sweat
Why did I ever think they'd be a beautiful pet?
They multiply and grow and soon you shall see
me carried away by these butterflies in me.

They all came from one little egg
filled with shock and surprise and confusion and dread
Is it true? Is it real? Can it all really be?
There is no way it can. Not to little old me.
It must be a prank, or something more mean
like a knife in the back of a kick in the splein.

But it is, this thing, it looks to be true.
"What is it" you ask, "that did come out of the blue?"
Something amazing, something wonderful
something stupendious and is in no way dull.
It is professional acting, the kind on a tour
That hopefully will lead to many an open door.

I wrote this poem after I found out I got into a professional touring show fall of 2005. The show was an amazing experience. I happen to like the poem too.

Birthday to a Froggi

Welcome Home my birthday friend,
Speculation on when this day was did finally end.
As you walk through your home today
You wont find a pile of clay
Or Sherwood Forest or a banana peel
Or Dixie cups with water unsealed,
There will be no wall of soda pop
Or things that on your head will drop.
There have been no changes to your place
‘cept one, but ‘twill cause you no disgrace.
(On my word you can rely.
It’s me! I would never lie.)

Search high, search low, and in between
Look sharp for what may be seen
On top, inside, around and behind
Grab the goodness that you may find.

Just heed this one warning lest it come too late
If you are to avoid this dire fate
Make sure you find all 55 pieces.
(Sometimes they look just like feces.)
If you leave them too long sitting around
Any heat will make them a gooey mound.
Grab them, eat them, and enjoy them for long

Happy Birthday Froggi! Uh,… Ding dong.

This poem I wrote to an amazing friend of mine for her birthday. It was done with a mini-prank.

To Her Majesty, Queen Eleanor

A Queen without her subject sits likened
To a tree apart from its forest. Wide
As its base may be, broad its branches, heightened
Its reach into the heavens doth ride
Is only diminished by the absence
Of lesser trees to bow before it. My
Queen, I do, with no ‘sire for recompense
Present to you this rhyme where truth doth lie.

I bow so all may see and adore
Thee. God save and long live Queen Eleanor.

Poem to a Love

Being near thee doth fill my heart with glee.
Thy smile doth shame the sun of it’s warming.

Beam. The joy in thy eyes doth make flee
All sorrows and gloom. Thy wit to crowing
Laughter doth send the most dull among us.
And to hear thee sing, a choir of angels
Do bow their heads. Thy beauty does
Nay have any earthly equal.

A Summer’s day ne’er can compare to thee
And I am content when thou art near me.

Happy Easter

Wrote this poem for Easter 2006. Just a little parody of the holiday.

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hopping down the Bunny Trail.
Hip-pity Hop-pity Easter's on its way.

Peter hipped and Peter hopped
Right into the pot he stopped.
That's when Peter you did flambé.

What about his kids and wife?
Now that you did take his life
Don't you think they're sad that he's not there?

Then there's all the good he's done
And he was a lot of fun.
But now he's only a roasted hare.

But don't you care one little bit?
You're just a great big twit!
Hounding his family in that way.

When they all come to brawl
You will just cook them all
And have a feast on Easter Day.

Jesus Christ Superstar

I wrote this poem for the cast of Superstar. It was the last weekend of the show, such a fun show to do.

Final Show of Jesus Christ Superstar

We now have reached our final show

It’s amazing how far we did grow

What began as a group of people learning the ropes

Grew into friendships that became very close

We rehearsed and rehearsed all evening sometimes

But finally we learned the music, the blocking, the dance, and the lines

More rehearsals and more with one little break

For snow and all of the rest for gosh sake

Tech week came and went

The show began….we were spent

Second weekend, then third, it happened so fast

What do you mean this is the last?

We were great on stage

The show was all the rage

We played in character; each night was unique

We added something different each night, I think

Then there was a little backstage fun

A kidney, a breath, a well-timed pun

A spider and the nightstick to name a few

There really was nothing we couldn’t do

Our show is over, strike begins soon

It was great performing with all of you at the Green Room

I must say before you drive off in your car

There is no doubt. You, my friend, are a Superstar!
